Abba
I want to be, to do all at once.
To read, to sit in the quiet and empty my mind of all I’ve read.
To have read, to know, and to have infinite understanding,
To know right from wrong, when there is right from wrong,
To know right from wrong, even if Abba could care less,
To have not only unshakable faith, but unshakable courage,
To do battle with a golden sword on behalf of Our Lord,
To defend Him to the death, even if that’s not what He wants me to do,
To proclaim His gospel with passion and without fear,
To actually have people listen to me and
To say something that makes a difference to them,
To listen to the woes of the world without judging and
To listen to the woes of the world but make a difference.
To study, worship, meditate, write, speak, evangelize, lead, follow
To fellowship, feel, preach, learn, pray, read, and eat from His table.
To feed, to house, to gather, to lift up those among us who
Hunger for food, for shelter, for spiritual sustenance, for understanding
For compassion and for You and the Holy Spirit.
What have you called me to do, Abba?
And will I have the courage to listen, to hear, and to obey?
And if I do not, will you forgive the sins of your drifting disciple?
The child who wants everything but gives nothing.
